Job Description
The Westin Pittsburgh, located in the heart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a distinguished hotel recognized for providing exceptional hospitality and guest services. As part of the Marriott International family, The Westin brand is committed to delivering a unique guest experience that emphasizes wellness and comfort. Marriott International is renowned globally for its inclusive employment practices and fostering an environment where diverse backgrounds and experiences are celebrated, making it an employer of choice for many in the hospitality industry.
The Westin Pittsburgh operates as a full-service hotel catering to business travelers, tourists, and wellness-focused guests. The hotel is strategically located at 1000 Penn Ave, offering guests easy access to local attractions, business districts, and cultural landmarks. The property is designed to promote wellbeing and offer an environment where guests can relax and rejuvenate during their stay.
Currently, The Westin Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated and personable Bellperson to join its rooms and guest services operations team. This is a seasonal, part-time, non-management position running from April through August, with the preference for open availability. The role offers an hourly pay range of $9.86 to $10.88 and the opportunity to earn tips. The Bellperson plays a crucial role as the first and last point of contact for guests, impacting their overall experience at the hotel.
The primary responsibilities of the Bellperson include greeting guests warmly, escorting them to their rooms, assisting with luggage transportation and storage, and providing valuable information regarding hotel amenities, local attractions, and transportation options. This person is expected to ensure guests feel welcomed and valued by anticipating their needs, offering genuine appreciation, and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
In addition to guest interactions, the Bellperson must adhere to all company policies and safety procedures, including reporting hazardous conditions and maintaining awareness of security concerns. Physical requirements for the position include the ability to lift and carry luggage up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier items with help, as well as moving confidently over various surfaces and stairs. The role is physically active and requires standing or walking for entire work shifts.
The ideal candidate is someone who embodies the Westin brand's commitment to wellness and positivity. Being optimistic, adventurous, and passionate about wellness not only aligns with the hotel's culture but also enhances the guest experience. The Westin encourages its associates to pursue their own well-being practices and bring that energy to the workplace. This role is perfect for individuals looking to be part of a global team that values purpose, belonging, and personal growth.
Candidates do not need prior work experience or supervisory background, as training and support will be provided. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory. The Westin Pittsburgh offers an inclusive work environment where every employee is respected and recognized for their contribution.
In summary, this seasonal Bellperson opportunity at The Westin Pittsburgh is ideal for those passionate about hospitality who enjoy engaging with people, being active during shifts, and contributing to a welcoming and wellness-driven hotel culture. By joining the team, associates can expect a supportive workplace that values diversity, personal well-being, and quality guest service, all while gaining valuable experience in the dynamic hospitality industry.
