Job Description

The hiring organization is a community-focused aquatic facility that offers a range of recreational water attractions such as pools and water slides to serve local residents during the warmer months. This seasonal venue is dedicated to maintaining a safe, enjoyable environment for patrons of all ages. The facility emphasizes the importance of customer service, safety, and operational efficiency to ensure a positive experience for visitors and a rewarding work atmosphere for its employees.

This position is a temporary, seasonal role primarily designed for the summer season, spanning from late May through early September. As a Pool Attendant, incumbents will have the important responsibility of monitoring pool attractions and managing entrance and exit gates to maintain safety standards and control access. The role involves interacting directly with guests to communicate safety rules, provide guidance on water attractions, and enforce policies with courtesy and authority.

Pool Attendants may also be assigned cashier responsibilities, which include collecting fees for admission and concessions, handling cash transactions accurately, securing money and valuables, and maintaining detailed records of daily receipts. The job necessitates working under supervision while exercising sound judgement aligned with established protocols and procedures. The work schedule can be flexible, often requiring nighttime, weekend, and holiday shifts to support the full scope of program operations.

Key employment milestones include a first review of applications at the end of January, followed by interviews starting in early February, and orientations scheduled for mid-April. The mandatory training period occurs during evenings and weekends in May, prior to the main operational season. Prospective candidates are encouraged to be available for the entire summer season to maximize continuity and efficiency.

The role demands vigilance, responsibility, and a proactive attitude to spot and report any safety or operational discrepancies to management promptly. Maintaining an organized and clean work environment is essential for the smooth daily functioning of the facility. Strong customer service skills are paramount, as Pool Attendants represent the front line of interaction with the public and fellow staff members.

Although no prior experience is required, applicants must be at least 15 years old to be considered, and a minimum age of 16 years applies for those interested in cashier duties, where previous cash handling experience is preferred. Having a Food Handler's Permit is an advantage, though not mandatory. This opportunity provides young individuals the chance to gain valuable work experience, develop interpersonal and organizational skills, and contribute to a safe community recreation setting.
