Job Description

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is a vibrant and inclusive organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women across 45 counties in Indiana. With a membership exceeding 16,000 Girl Scouts and supported by over 10,000 adult volunteers, the organization plays a pivotal role in personal development, leadership, and community engagement for youth. The Girl Scouts of Central Indiana operate five renowned camp locations offering enriching outdoor experiences, host numerous community programs in partnership with close to 600 local organizations, and maintain educational spaces such as the STEM Center of Excellence and the Founders Lodge Event and Conference Center. These facilities provide unique opportunities for skill-building, community involvement, and specialized events, showcasing the organization's commitment to fostering growth and learning in diverse environments.

The Kitchen Staff role at Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is a seasonal position that reports directly to the Kitchen Manager. This position is integral to the organization's summer camp operations and requires a dedicated individual to support food service throughout the camp season. The kitchen staff member is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with safety standards and camp guidelines, ensuring that nutritious and appealing food is consistently provided to campers and staff. Beyond cooking, the role requires a strong understanding and commitment to kitchen safety procedures and dining hall regulations. The individual must be adaptable and willing to take on a variety of tasks beyond the primary duties as assigned by supervisors.

Moreover, the role emphasizes fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace culture, aligning with the Girl Scouts' values of equity and respect for all individuals. Kitchen staff are expected to engage with members and colleagues in a way that promotes harmony and inclusiveness, contributing to an environment where differences are celebrated and all voices are valued. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission while developing skills in culinary arts, teamwork, and leadership within a community-focused setting. The role also requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, as kitchen staff often work closely with a diverse group of volunteers, campers, and other organizational personnel. The position demands physical stamina, adaptability, and a proactive attitude to meet the demands of a dynamic camp environment. Overall, this seasonal role offers a rewarding experience for individuals passionate about food service and youth development in an outdoor camp setting, providing a unique balance of responsibility, community engagement, and personal growth.
