Known for its expansive lake, hiking trails, and family-friendly amenities, Tenkiller State Park attracts visitors year-round for both relaxation and adventure. The Department is committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and visitor satisfaction to ensure a positive experience for all who come to enjoy the park. This dedication is reflected in their hiring practices for seasonal staff who play a critical role in maintaining the park’s facilities and welcoming guests.
This job opportunity is for a Seasonal Housekeeping/Custodial Worker at Tenkiller State Park, offered on a part-time seasonal basis with a fixed term. The position pays $12.00 per hour and requires candidates to commit to duties that maintain cleanliness and sanitation across the park’s property, including lodge rooms, guest cabins, and other facilities. As an entry-level role, it is designed to support the park’s operation by ensuring that the environment remains welcoming and clean, contributing directly to visitor satisfaction.
The role involves various housekeeping and custodial responsibilities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, vacuuming, waxing, and polishing different surfaces throughout the park’s buildings. This ensures a clean environment in high-traffic areas such as washrooms, bedrooms, and common spaces. Workers also manage the restocking of supplies like paper products, towels, and soap, critical for maintaining convenience and hygiene standards. Safety is a priority, with employees required to observe and report violations and to participate actively in emergency protocols, reinforcing the park’s commitment to a safe visitor environment.
Physical demands include regular bending, stooping, squatting, walking, and lifting items up to 50 pounds, indicating that the role requires stamina and physical fitness. The job also demands flexibility regarding working hours, including availability for weekends, holidays, and special events, to meet the operational needs of the park. Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, and for some locations, possessing a valid driver’s license is necessary.
The position supports the state’s equal employment opportunity principles, ensuring no discrimination on grounds of genetic information, race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, or disability. Background checks are part of the selection process, aligning with agency policy to maintain a safe working environment. The Department of Tourism and Recreation emphasizes internal promotion opportunities for current employees, while encouraging community members to apply and contribute to the park’s continued excellence and visitor enjoyment.
