Job Description
Zest Pool Bar and Grill, located within The Westin South Coast Plaza Costa Mesa in California, is a premier hospitality establishment known for its vibrant atmosphere and exceptional service. The Westin South Coast Plaza is part of Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality industry, committed to delivering quality experiences and fostering a supportive workplace environment for its employees. Situated in a bustling area, the bar and grill offer guests exquisite food and beverage options in a relaxed poolside setting, making it a popular destination for both tourists and locals seeking a refreshing and enjoyable dining experience.
This seasonal part-time position at Zest Pool Bar and Grill spans from the second week of April through the third week of September. The role is non-management, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to gain hospitality experience in a renowned hotel setting without supervisory responsibilities. Compensation for this role is $16.90 per hour, with the added benefit of being tip-eligible, which can enhance overall earnings significantly during the busy summer months.
The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare drink orders accurately by following specified recipes with measured precision. The server will expertly handle wine and champagne bottles, set up and maintain the cleanliness of the bar area, and ensure all necessary supplies such as ice, glassware, and paper goods are stocked and readily available. Additional responsibilities include preparing fresh drink garnishes, transporting supplies to the bar setup area, washing soiled glassware, and clearing used wares from tables and bar tops to maintain an orderly environment.
Cash handling and financial transaction processing are crucial elements of the job, requiring end-of-shift bank counts, completion of cashier reports, receipt drops, and securing of the cash bank. Security measures also involve safeguarding liquors, beers, wines, and all storage areas to prevent loss and ensure compliance with safety standards. Employees are expected to follow all company safety policies, report any accidents or unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training courses.
This role emphasizes excellent customer service, requiring the ability to welcome guests warmly, anticipate their needs, and thank them genuinely. It also demands clear and professional communication skills, teamwork to achieve common goals, adherence to high-quality service standards, and confidentiality with proprietary information. Physical stamina is necessary, as workers will stand, walk, and sometimes sit for extended periods, manipulate objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and navigate varying environments and surfaces.
Marriott International places a high value on diversity and inclusion and is committed to equal opportunity employment. The Westin brand enhances guest well-being by empowering employees to engage fully with wellness practices, both professionally and personally. This philosophy of self-care and proactive health support creates a positive work environment where associates can thrive, develop their skills, and become the best version of themselves while delivering exceptional hospitality.
