Job Description
Thompson Seattle is a luxury hotel located in the vibrant heart of Seattle, known for its elegant design, exceptional service, and stunning views of the city skyline, Elliot Bay, and the Olympic Mountains. As part of the prestigious Thompson Hotels brand, it offers guests a blend of modern luxury and Pacific Northwest charm. One of the hotel’s most iconic features is The Nest, its rooftop lounge, which has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors seeking an unforgettable experience amid breathtaking scenery. The Nest is renowned not only for its panoramic views but also for the innovative food and beverage offerings that highlight seasonal ingredients inspired by the Pacific Northwest's rich culinary landscape. The lounge delivers a unique atmosphere that combines intimate tastings, lively DJ events with vinyl music played under the stars, and a variety of bespoke experiences that set it apart from your typical downtown bar. The ambiance encourages socializing, creativity, and memorable moments in a stylish setting.
The Seasonal Bartender role at The Nest is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about mixology and hospitality to join the team during the busy summer season. This seasonal position starts in mid-May and runs through the end of September, providing bartenders the chance to engage with a diverse and dynamic clientele. Candidates for this role should be well-versed in modern mixology techniques, knowledgeable about bar equipment, and committed to maintaining high sanitation standards in a fast-paced environment. The Seasonal Bartender plays a key role in delivering the exceptional guest experience Thompson Seattle is known for by crafting expertly mixed beverages and offering personalized recommendations to guests. This position allows for artistic expression, interaction with guests, and the chance to elevate one’s bartending skills in a luxury hospitality setting.
Applicants must demonstrate a solid understanding of state and local alcohol serving regulations and possess strong communication skills to create engaging customer interactions. Physical stamina is important, as bartenders need to handle moderate lifting and manage the demands of a lively rooftop bar environment. The role includes earning an hourly wage starting at $18.00, plus a service charge distribution and additional guest gratuities. As a seasonal role, flexibility and availability for the entire employment period are critical to success. To foster recruitment, Thompson Seattle hosts job fairs where interested candidates can meet hiring managers, participate in interviews, and potentially receive offers on the spot. The hotel is committed to equal opportunity employment and values diversity among its workforce.
Employees in this position gain access to a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time staff, a 401k retirement savings plan, life and disability insurance, paid time off including vacation and sick leave, holiday pay, and several additional perks such as colleague discount rates, complimentary room nights, tuition reimbursement, and more. The culture at Thompson Seattle emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and guest satisfaction, providing a rewarding work environment for those who thrive in hospitality and customer service sectors.
