Scoopers are not only responsible for scooping ice cream but also for operating the waffle station, handling point-of-sale transactions, restocking inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the shop. They uphold food safety standards, assist with third-party delivery order fulfillment, and provide courteous and knowledgeable answers to questions. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid food handlers card or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Prior experience in food service or hospitality preferred
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow health safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Valid food handlers card required within 30 days of employment or as per local regulations
- Experience in food service fast-casual dining or hospitality preferred
- Ability to learn and discuss classic and seasonal flavors and products confidently
- Excellent communication skills to deliver legendary hospitality
- Passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences
- Ability to work well with diverse populations and team members
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and changing priorities
- Fluency in English
- Availability to work evenings late nights weekends and holidays
- Ability to work at least 3 shifts per week including 2 closing shifts
Job Duties
- Interact attentively with guests throughout their visit with patience positivity and effervescence
- Maintain strong understanding of Salt & Straw brand production techniques partnerships and flavor profiles
- Scoop perfect portions for guests in line with shop standards
- Process transactions accurately using POS system handle cash and ensure correct change
- Prepare label and store waffle batter operate waffle iron make cones label and store cones maintaining clean waffle station
- Adhere to shop food quality and safety standards including dishwashing cleaning floors bathrooms freezers and organization
- Replenish retail products restock freezers paper goods waffle batter cones and other supplies
- Consolidate ice cream tubs replenish stock from walk-in freezer temper tubs correctly
- Pack third-party delivery orders following company standards ensuring correct portioning packaging and labeling
- Answer phones promptly providing excellent service and product information
- Greet guests facilitate line flow answer questions explain experience options and promote online ordering and pint purchases
- Taste sample ice cream daily including different flavors to better communicate to customers benefits of each flavor
