The company's core mission revolves around creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable spaces that positively impact communities and businesses alike.

Within this dynamic and expansive company, the role of School Custodian is essential in maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments specifically tailored for K-12 schools, colleges, and university campuses. This position provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals entering or returning to the workforce, offering on-the-job training and a supportive environment to gain hands-on experience. ABM is proud to be a military-friendly employer, actively encouraging veterans and those with military occupational experience to apply, as well as providing them with tailored career development and training opportunities.

The School Custodian is responsible for performing a broad range of cleaning duties within designated school areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways. The role demands reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of school facilities. Custodians ensure that floors are swept, mopped, and free of debris, trash receptacles are regularly emptied, and surfaces including desks, chairs, furniture, walls, and glass are polished and cleaned using appropriate chemicals and equipment. They also play a critical role in reporting any needed repairs or maintenance issues to supervisors, helping to sustain a safe and efficient learning environment.

Custodians at ABM are expected to adhere to all safety, compliance, and quality standards set forth by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities, guaranteeing a consistent level of service. Seasonal tasks such as raking leaves, removing snow, and tending to outdoor cleanliness may also be part of the responsibilities. ABM provides a comprehensive benefits package to its frontline employees, including health insurance and other key benefits, underscoring the company's commitment to employee well-being.

This position is ideal for candidates who may not yet hold a high school diploma or who are seeking entry-level work, as prior experience is not required. However, individuals with customer service experience or previous custodial work are welcomed and can leverage their skills for success in this role. Custodianship at ABM is more than just routine cleaning; it contributes directly to creating nurturing and professional educational spaces that support student and staff success.
