Job Description

Willowbrae Academy is a well-established early learning center located in Thornton, Colorado, specializing in wellness-centered programming that emphasizes nutritious, diverse, and culturally inclusive meals. The academy integrates a play-based curriculum with holistic care principles to create an environment that supports the complete development and well-being of young children. With a strong focus on health and nutrition, Willowbrae Academy maintains an on-site kitchen that carefully crafts meals using dietitian-approved recipes. Their menus follow a six-week rotation refreshed twice a year to ensure seasonal variety, nutritional integrity, and alignment with policy standards. This dedication to children’s health extends to their whole educational philosophy and daily operations, fostering a thriving community of learners and caregivers united in promoting wellness and growth.

The role of Cook / Chef at Willowbrae Academy is a pivotal position closely linked to the academy's mission of nurturing children's health through carefully prepared meals. As a full-time, in-person role based at 91 E. 136th Ave, Thornton, CO, this position reports directly to the Academy Director. The Cook / Chef will take on the responsibility of preparing nourishing meals and snacks that meet the academy’s rigorous standards. This involves executing daily menus with the flexibility to make adjustments as needed, managing and inventorying kitchen supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in all cooking and dining areas. Beyond meal preparation, the role requires tailoring food offerings to accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special feeding considerations, fostering clear communication with staff to meet every child's nutritional and health needs.

Willowbrae Academy offers a supportive work environment that values collaboration, a warm and child-centered communication style, and strong teamwork among colleagues and leadership. The physical demands of the job are acknowledged, including stamina for kitchen and housekeeping tasks, making this role suited for a candidate with both culinary skills and a robust work ethic. The academy provides competitive compensation starting at $19.00 per hour based on experience, paired with comprehensive benefits including group health, dental, and vision plans, generous paid time off for holidays, vacation, and sick days, as well as employee perks such as childcare discounts, professional development support, and recognition programs.

Working at Willowbrae Academy means joining a dynamic, wellness-focused early learning community supported by a beautifully designed, secure, and modern facility. This role not only contributes to the health and well-being of children but also offers professional fulfillment for those passionate about pediatric nutrition and holistic care. Applicants who are eager to make a meaningful impact in young lives through nutrition and care are encouraged to apply and explore the academy's programs and philosophy through their website. Successful candidates will be contacted directly by the Academy Director to further discuss their fit and alignment with the academy's high standards and vision to help children flourish.
