Job Description
St. Anne Catholic School stands as a beacon of quality education and community engagement, nestled in a supportive environment where the well-being and development of its students are paramount. Known for its commitment to fostering a nurturing and holistic learning atmosphere, the school not only focuses on academic excellence but also ensures that students receive well-balanced nutrition to support their growth and daily activities. The school’s dedication extends beyond classroom education into comprehensive care, integrating strong nutritional programs that adhere to the standards set by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
The position offered is for a dependable and motivated School Baker who will play a critical role in the school’s food services department. This part-time role involves approximately 25 to 30 hours per week during the school year, spanning from August through May, and starts daily at 8:00 a.m. The School Baker's primary responsibility is to prepare and serve nutritious, appealing breakfasts, lunch items, and after-school snacks that meet the health standards expected by the school and its nutrition programs. The role requires a focused individual who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment while managing food preparation with care and precision.
As a School Baker at St. Anne Catholic School, the successful candidate will find themselves integral to the daily routine and success of the school's nourishment initiatives. The job entails measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients in accordance with approved recipes, ensuring consistency and high quality in all food items prepared. Assisting with food prep tasks beyond baking, such as supporting breakfast and lunch meal production and adhering to CACFP guidelines, enhances the nutritional standards maintained within the school. An essential part of the position is vigilance in checking the freshness and quality of all food products to guarantee the health and satisfaction of students.
Daily duties also include maintaining accurate production records such as quantities prepared and temperature logs, which are crucial for compliance and auditing purposes. Hygiene and sanitation take precedence in the School Baker’s responsibilities as well, including washing dishes and utensils, sanitizing workspaces and equipment on scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly intervals, and managing the cleanliness of floors and kitchen attire. This job demands an individual who can work efficiently in a warm kitchen environment, persevere through physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting, and carrying, while also observing strict health, sanitation, and safety standards.
Applicants should have at least a high school diploma or GED, have basic math skills adequate for precise measuring and portioning, and possess strong communication skills to ensure clear understanding and excelling in teamwork. Experience in kitchen production or food service is preferred but not strictly required, as ongoing training and education classes will be provided to support skill development. This position not only offers a fulfilling opportunity to contribute directly to children’s health and happiness but also to be part of a vibrant school community dedicated to excellence in all facets of student life.
