The Paxton's Barback position, located in the bustling Sawmill Market outpost at Paxton’s Taproom in Albuquerque, is a part-time hourly role that pays starting at $8.00 per hour plus tips, with wages commensurate with experience. This entry-level role is essential in supporting the bar and front-of-house teams by ensuring that the bar is well-stocked, clean, and prepared to deliver exceptional guest service. As a Paxton’s Barback, you will accompany guests on their beverage journeys, assisting bartenders by running drinks, maintaining cleanliness of the bar and lounge areas, and providing attentive and courteous service to patrons. The role is fast-paced and requires physical stamina, excellent communication, and multitasking abilities. Job Requirements

  • Current alcohol server certification required
  • ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and late nights
  • ability to work on feet for eight hours or more
  • must be able to lift, push, reach for, or carry 30 plus pounds frequently
  • excellent verbal communication
  • 6 months to 1 year or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • high school diploma or equivalent experience or training

Job Duties

  • Work under direction of manager or assistant manager
  • communicate daily with leadership regarding job assignments and required timeframe
  • maintain positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests
  • greet and welcome guests at the bar or in the bar area
  • support the bartender on running drinks to tables as needed
  • ensure beverages come out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • maintain cleanliness of all bar and lounge areas including ice bins, shelving, cups, and tables
  • check identification to ensure minimum age requirements are met for alcohol consumption
  • resolve guest issues professionally and timely
  • notify manager or bartender if a guest appears intoxicated
  • handle checks and cash according to procedures and prepare tip reporting paperwork on time
  • attend required training sessions or meetings
  • other duties as assigned consistent with position functions
