Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one year production experience in a manufacturing environment
- ability to read and understand safety data sheets
- ability to operate cleaning and lifting equipment safely
- knowledge of GMP and food safety procedures
- ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment
- ability to work independently and efficiently
- availability for mandatory overtime
- physical ability to lift and carry various weights
- ability to work in noisy, wet, and potentially hazardous environments
- minimal travel capability
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- one year production experience in a manufacturing environment
- good written and verbal communication skills
- average mathematical skills
- knowledge of good manufacturing practices and industry standard cleaning procedures
- knowledge of HACCP, allergens, and pest control
- attention to detail and sense of urgency in food safety
- basic knowledge of sanitation equipment functions
- understanding of production equipment such as mixers, wire cuts, wrappers, and conveyors
- ability or willingness to learn sanitary design of equipment
- SQF certification is a plus
Job Duties
- Performs plant cleaning as prescribed by the master sanitation schedule
- maintains general housekeeping in all areas of the plant
- utilizes powered cleaning equipment including powered lifts, scissors lifts, power washers, foam applicators, steamers, automatic compactors, motors, and various non-mechanized equipment
- operates equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactor, vacuum cleaner, and floor scrubber safely and knowledgeably
- follows instructions for safe lifting and identifies and reports defective equipment
- disassembles and reassembles machines, pumps, bucket elevators, slurry equipment, filters, and other processing equipment
- works independently with no direct supervision in a high efficiency level
- learns and performs proper allergen elimination procedures
- practices and adheres to safety and hygiene guidelines including the use of personal protective equipment
- participates in safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives
- reads safety data sheets and uses chemical cleaning agents in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations
- assists in spill containment and pest control activities
- removes product debris to trash
- trained in lock-out tag-out and blood borne pathogen safety
- supports continuous improvement initiatives including 5S
- collects recyclables and loads them into proper trailers
- mixes and handles chemical concentrates
- may input chemical data into Excel
- may create or update standard operating procedures
- performs other duties as required
- mandatory overtime may be required
