Committed to equal opportunity employment, Land O'Lakes fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment, emphasizing compliance with a drug-free workplace policy and responsible hiring practices.
The role of Operations/Sanitation Supervisor on the 3rd shift is crucial in maintaining the quality and safety standards expected by Land O'Lakes. This position requires overseeing daily sanitation operations, ensuring all Critical Control Points (CCPs) are strictly followed, and coordinating with the Kitchen and Pack Room Leads to manage production startups and shutdowns effectively. The supervisor reviews work orders for accuracy in issued materials and ingredients and ensures all procedural adjustments are properly communicated and executed by shift leads. A primary duty includes monitoring production lines for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety protocols, ensuring all team members adhere to company policies, quality control guidelines, and management directives.
This position demands a strong leadership presence to maintain a safe working environment, enforce safety and sanitation standards, investigate incidents, and conduct ongoing training. The supervisor owns the sanitation program, managing Sanitation Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs), updating schedules, ensuring proper chemical usage, and conducting thorough inspections across the facility. They also manage validation and audit activities in partnership with Quality Assurance, ensuring all sanitation and food safety standards meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
Beyond sanitation, the Operations/Sanitation Supervisor supports production and operational processes by leading daily efficiency meetings, analyzing operational performance using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data, and driving continuous improvement across the department. Workforce management duties include scheduling, time tracking, attendance enforcement, and participation in hiring efforts. Operationally, the supervisor manages system data entry, work order reconciliation, and effective communication of production issues.
Given the physical demands of the role, candidates must be prepared to work in various temperature conditions and maintain standing for entire shifts while engaging in manual tasks such as lifting and pushing. The schedule is primarily the 3rd shift, from 8 PM to 4:30 AM, including the possibility of overtime and weekend work to meet production needs.
The salary range for this position is $70,800 to $106,200, with new hires typically starting near the midpoint. This role suits candidates who have a bachelor's degree in biology, food science, or related fields with at least one year of food manufacturing experience, or alternatively, candidates with five or more years of sanitation-focused experience in food manufacturing. Prior experience in leadership and managing direct reports is essential for success in this role. Joining Land O'Lakes means becoming part of a dedicated team that is passionate about food safety, operational excellence, and sustainable agricultural practices while enjoying competitive compensation and benefits.
