Job Description
Bel Brands USA is a prominent and mission-driven company recognized for its beloved portfolio of snack brands such as Babybel®, GoGo squeeZ®, The Laughing Cow®, and Boursin®. With a history spanning over 160 years, the company combines bold innovation with strong family values and a commitment to social good, focusing primarily on improving nutrition. Bel Brands aims to help close the significant nutritional gap faced by many Americans by encouraging increased consumption of fruits, vegetables, and dairy products through convenient snacking solutions. Headquartered in Chicago and New York City, Bel Brands operates four manufacturing plants across the United States, including the Little Chute, Wisconsin location where this role is based.
The role of Sanitation Supervisor at Bel Brands’ Little Chute facility is a critical leadership position responsible for the overall planning, execution, and supervision of cleaning and sanitation procedures. This position is vital in maintaining a clean and safe production environment that complies with federal and state sanitation regulations, contributing directly to product quality and food safety. It also plays an essential role in supporting the company's commitment to sustainable and socially responsible manufacturing practices.
This is an unlimited-term, full-time position primarily working the third shift from 10 PM to 6 AM Monday through Friday, with occasional Sunday evening hours from 8 PM to midnight as business needs dictate. The Sanitation Supervisor will lead and manage a team of approximately 20 hourly employees, focusing on workforce training, assigning sanitation tasks, and fostering employee development through coaching and feedback. The supervisor will ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), oversee the maintenance and improvement of sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and guarantee compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
Key responsibilities include managing the use of cleaning chemicals, pest control programs, and sanitation equipment, ensuring proper ATP testing results, and monitoring the Clean-In-Place (CIP) process to maintain equipment hygiene standards. The role requires close collaboration with production supervisors to provide backup support and ensure efficient sanitation operations. Additionally, maintaining accurate inventory levels of sanitation supplies and equipment maintenance is crucial.
Bel Brands places a high value on safety, environmental responsibility, and quality assurance. The Sanitation Supervisor is expected to lead by example by following all safety rules and procedures, participating actively in hazard identification, and ensuring a safe and sanitary workplace. This role is physically demanding, requiring bending, squatting, climbing, and other movements, along with the ability to lift varying weights depending on the task.
Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Management, or a related field with at least one year of sanitation supervision experience. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree but with a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of relevant food or dairy industry experience focused on sanitation are equally considered. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are strongly preferred, enhancing communication with the team. Candidates should have experience handling chemicals, pest control, and sanitation equipment, with knowledge of CIP, manual foamers, and basic production machinery including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency in intermediate computer skills, especially SAP and Microsoft Office/Excel, is also advantageous.
The position demands strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills adaptable to different audiences, and the ability to perform across various tasks with a sense of urgency. The role is aligned with Bel Brands' core values of CARE, DARE, and COMMIT—emphasizing growth and development, bold and focused action, and teamwork with a commitment to customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the Sanitation Supervisor must utilize all required personal protective equipment to comply with safety protocols.
Bel Brands is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion in its workforce. They are dedicated to recruiting, hiring, and promoting individuals with disabilities and veterans and provide accommodation options to ensure an equitable hiring process. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a company committed not only to product excellence but also to social and environmental responsibility.
