Job Description

BERC Specialty Services is a rapidly expanding cleaning and janitorial company based in the greater Vancouver and Portland area. Known for its commitment to quality service and client satisfaction, BERC Specialty Services offers an extensive range of cleaning solutions tailored to meet diverse customer needs. The company's expertise spans vacant home turn cleaning, biohazard remediation, pressure washing, hoarding assistance, relocation services, trash outs, grounds cleanup and control, and common area janitorial deep cleaning. With a strong reputation for reliability and professionalism in the janitorial industry, BERC Specialty Services takes pride in building lasting client relationships and providing a supportive, team-oriented work environment. The company values employees who are proactive, dependable, and eager to grow alongside the business, fostering both personal development and career advancement. Their team culture emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and openness to feedback, making it an excellent workplace for individuals who thrive in dynamic roles with varied responsibilities.

The role of Sanitary Specialist at BERC Specialty Services offers exciting opportunities for candidates to join a stable yet growing company specializing in cleaning and janitorial services. This position is part-time, with the potential to become full-time, offering between 20 and 35 hours per week initially. The starting wage ranges from $17.25 to $17.75 per hour depending on experience, with the opportunity for a $1.00 raise after 90 days and bonus tier pay for certain specialized jobs after 30 days. Employees also participate in a paid two-hour working interview at minimum wage, which serves as an introduction to the role and company standards. The core duties involve deep cleaning of vacant residential properties such as homes and apartments, hoarding and trash out cleaning, organizing supplies and inventory, cleaning common areas in office and apartment buildings, working directly with clients, groundskeeping and garbage cleanup, and occasional cleaning of animal feces.

This position is physically demanding, requiring bending, squatting, reaching, and standing for long periods while handling household chemicals and cleaning products safely. Since work environments are both indoors and outdoors, candidates must be adaptable to varying conditions, including assisting with exterior property maintenance as Porter services expand. A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required due to some job sites being located outside the immediate Vancouver area, with opportunities for carpooling with other team members. BERC Specialty Services strongly invests in employee training and development to expand staff expertise, including increasing certifications related to cleaning and janitorial services. The ideal candidate is a team player who independently identifies tasks needing completion and proceeds without direct supervision. They should be detail-oriented, receptive to constructive criticism, eager to acquire new skills, and committed to representing the company's standards and client values.

Benefits include paid time off including sick leave and holidays, performance bonuses, employee perks such as company parties and gift cards, and flexible scheduling options with varied shift lengths and occasional weekend or overtime work. Employees enjoy a family-oriented culture and are encouraged to balance work with personal development opportunities. This role is suitable for individuals with a high school diploma or GED and preferred experience of at least one year in cleaning or janitorial services. BERC places emphasis on strong communication skills, expecting staff to read, write, and communicate professionally in English. Candidates should be able to reliably commute to various locations and comply with COVID-19 safety measures, including mask-wearing when required by clients. This position provides a solid foundation for career growth in the janitorial and specialty cleaning industry within a supportive team environment dedicated to excellence and professional development.
