Job Description

This opportunity is with the brand-new Springhill Suites Jacksonville Beach Oceanfront, a 156-suite hotel located directly on Jacksonville Beach, adjacent to the Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier. This property combines sophisticated design and elegance with stunning oceanfront views, featuring a custom-designed restaurant and bar that creates an inviting and stylish atmosphere for guests. The hotel aims to deliver an outstanding guest experience through impeccable service, quality food and beverages, and a vibrant social setting.

The role offered is primarily within the Food and Beverage Department. The position requires a flexible schedule including availability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the daily operational procedures of the department are executed flawlessly. This includes maintaining food and beverage safety and quality according to hotel, Shaner, and franchise standards. The role also involves maintaining and adhering to established operational and safety standards to ensure safe working conditions within the department. Handling guest-related issues courteously and effectively falls under this role’s responsibilities, requiring excellent communication skills with the General Manager, other department managers, supervisors, and staff to ensure seamless operations.

In addition to these responsibilities, the role involves taking orders and preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as light meals, with a commitment to courteous and efficient service consistent with hotel specifications. Maintaining stock, supplies, and cleanliness of the outlet and equipment is also essential to uphold operational standards. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum one year experience in food and beverage services
  • must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages in the state
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • ability to follow safety and operational procedures
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization within the work area
  • physical capability to perform job duties including standing and lifting
  • knowledge of basic math calculations

Job Qualifications

  • minimum one year of experience in the restaurant food and beverage field
  • minimum state age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests management and co-workers to their understanding
  • high school graduate or equivalent some college preferred
  • servsafe and/or food safety training a plus
  • alcohol awareness training such as tips
  • familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
  • ability to accurately compute basic mathematical calculations
  • bilingual english/spanish a plus
  • knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele

Job Duties

  • be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
  • ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the food and beverage department
  • maintain food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel shaner and franchise specifications
  • maintain and abide by standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department
