Job Description
Michaels is the leading creative destination in North America, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, along with a robust online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has earned its reputation as the best place for all things creative. The company is committed to fueling the joy of creativity by providing a wide range of arts and crafts supplies, framing options, and unique handmade goods through its affiliated marketplace, MakerPlace by Michaels. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, ensuring that customers have access to high-quality, innovative crafting products and services. Michaels is known for its welcoming and inclusive environment where Team Members and customers alike can create, innovate, and be better together. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Michaels is dedicated to supporting all qualified individuals, including those with disabilities, by providing reasonable accommodations and fostering a culture of respect and collaboration. The company values the well-being of its employees, offering comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts to both full-time and part-time Team Members.
The Event Coordinator role at the Michaels store located in Hulen, Fort Worth, TX, offers an exciting opportunity to engage with guests of all ages, from children to seniors, by planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of creative events. These include children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other store events designed to provide a fun, stress-free, and memorable experience for participants. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering friendly and attentive customer service throughout the event process, helping customers shop and find creative solutions while ensuring quick and efficient checkout experiences. The role also includes operational duties such as truck unloading, merchandising, maintaining store standards, and supporting overall store recovery efforts to uphold Michaels' Brand Promises.
In this role, the Event Coordinator will manage multiple events simultaneously, demonstrating craft project instructions, performing activities like face painting, and overseeing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards. Effective communication with clients and team members is essential to schedule, adjust, and execute events tailored to customer feedback and preferences. The Event Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment before, during, and after events, including setup and breakdown tasks.
Customer experience is a critical focus area for this position. Coordinators will actively assist customers in locating products, educate them on rewards programs and credit card benefits, and help with processes such as Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Additional duties include participating in truck unloading, stocking, planogram setup, merchandise recovery, and store optimization efforts. The role requires adherence to company policies, safety programs, and sound customer interaction practices that promote a positive shopping atmosphere and model team spirit.
Preferred candidates bring an energetic and enthusiastic personality, exceptional people skills, experience working with children and managing children’s events, and strong communication and organizational abilities. The job requires physical stamina to remain standing for long periods, the ability to move throughout the store and perform regular bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching activities, including handling heavy boxes and working with equipment like ladders. This public retail setting involves climate-controlled customer areas, some stockroom work, occasional outdoor tasks, and flexible work hours including nights, weekends, and early mornings.
At Michaels, the commitment to creativity extends beyond the customers to the Team Members, ensuring a supportive work environment that encourages growth, inclusion, and excellence in all aspects of the job.
