Job Description

This position is with a well-established hotel that prioritizes exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence. The hotel is focused on delivering superior lodging and service to its clientele and is seeking a dedicated Sales Manager to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about sales, customer service, and contributing directly to the hotel’s profitability and growth. As a key player in the hotel’s commercial success, the Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing sales occupancy and rates by partnering closely with hotel operations. The salaried position requires a proactive approach and a strategic mindset to drive business development efforts aggressively, ensuring the hotel achieves and exceeds its revenue goals.

The Sales Manager will be tasked with a dynamic and multifaceted role that includes conducting vigorous sales solicitation activities such as outside sales calls, inside appointments, telephone contact, and direct mail campaigns. A critical element of this role involves dedicating the majority of work time—approximately eighty percent—to active sales solicitation, maintaining a strong presence in the market to capture new business opportunities and retain existing client relationships. The incumbent will assist the Director of Sales in developing the annual marketing plan, particularly focusing on segment strategies that align with the hotel’s objectives.

This position involves comprehensive responsibilities including preparing and sending timely proposals for all viable sales leads, converting these leads to confirmed business, and managing detailed client requirements related to room blocks, suite needs, meeting spaces, and banquet facilities. The Sales Manager must ensure that all documentation, including billing, credit applications, rooming lists, and VIP arrangements, is accurately maintained and communicated effectively within the team, particularly supporting the catering manager for client events.

Maintaining a sales quota set by the Director of Sales is a fundamental expectation, alongside ensuring an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and guest needs. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills, working cooperatively with associates across departments, and consistently promoting a culture of courtesy, goodwill, and positivity in every interaction. Additionally, the Sales Manager is responsible for preparing weekly sales call reports and itineraries to keep the sales leadership well-informed of progress and plans.

In summary, the Sales Manager role is pivotal in executing aggressive and effective sales strategies, nurturing client relationships, managing documentation and logistics for group bookings, and cultivating an enthusiastic sales culture within the hotel. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces teamwork, and is driven by results. The role also requires some travel and flexibility in work schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the evolving needs of the hospitality industry.
