The role of Sales/Cashier at Melrose is designed for individuals who are bright, outgoing, and enthusiastic about helping others. This position is pivotal because cashiers are often the first and last points of contact customers have with the store, which means your role goes beyond just handling transactions. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient payment processing, maintaining an organized and tidy cash wrap area, and enhancing the shopping experience by being knowledgeable about merchandise and promoting the MStyle Loyalty Program.
As a Sales/Cashier, you will greet customers warmly as they enter and leave, assist them with payment options including cash, credit cards, vouchers, and automatic debits, and provide receipts, refunds, or credits as necessary. Your ability to communicate effectively and maintain a cheerful disposition will directly contribute to a positive in-store environment. You will also support in various operational tasks such as floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and general housekeeping. Participating in inventory preparation like cycle counts and assisting customers in fitting rooms are additional facets of your role.
This position requires a dependable individual who can manage both attendance and cash drawer responsibilities responsibly while adapting to varying work schedules. Physical demands include standing and walking for prolonged periods, performing a variety of movements such as crouching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail or cashier experience preferred
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to handle cash accurately
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Basic PC knowledge
- Familiarity with electronic equipment such as scanners and cash registers

Job Duties
- Greet customers when entering or leaving the store
- Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash and media at the registers
- Maintain orderly appearance of cash wrap
- Receive payment by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits
- Communicate the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers and ask them to sign up
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure accuracy and adequate change
- Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and general housekeeping as requested by management
- Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
- Participate in preparation for cycle counts
- Assist customers in the fitting rooms as needed
- Answer customer questions and escalate to a manager if unresolved
- Clean shelves, counters, tables, racks, fixtures, employee restroom, stockroom, break room, sweep or mop when assigned
