The Sales Associate role at Dollar General is a critical position, serving as the primary point of contact for customers and ensuring a smooth and satisfying shopping experience. This full-time role offers an opportunity to engage directly with customers, assist in locating and purchasing merchandise, and contribute to the overall success and profitability of the store. The Sales Associate is responsible for multiple tasks: operating the cash register, accurately handling transactions, restocking and organizing merchandise in accordance with company standards, and maintaining cleanliness and safety within the store. This dynamic role requires a customer-focused attitude, attention to detail, and adherence to company policies to protect both assets and customers. As a Sales Associate, you will work closely under the guidance of the Store Manager and be instrumental in fostering a positive shopping environment that encourages repeat business and customer loyalty. The role also offers exposure to various operational aspects of retail management, serving as a foundation for career advancement within the company. With frequent interaction with customers and team members, excellent communication skills and a conscientious work ethic are essential to success in this position. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • frequent walking and standing
  • frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run check out station, stock merchandise and unload trucks
  • ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
  • frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers
  • frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds
  • occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
  • occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise level
  • occasional exposure to outside weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills

  • ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides
  • knowledge of basic cash handling procedures

  • ability to stock merchandise

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service, greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total customer's purchase, collect payment from customers and make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers with merchandise as necessary
  • follow company merchandise processes, unpack, stock, restock, and rotate merchandise on shelves and build merchandise displays
  • clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, clean restroom and receiving room, and help set up sidewalk displays
