The Sales and Events Manager role at The River Kitchen and Bar is a full-time, on-site position based in Chicago, IL. This critical position combines sales expertise with event management responsibilities to drive the venue’s revenue and reputation for high-quality events. The role is heavily sales-focused and requires the ability to sell event bookings before managing them effectively. Success in this position depends on the candidate's ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients, plan and coordinate diverse events, and create customized proposals that meet client needs. In addition to sales, the manager oversees event logistics and works closely with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences. Managing the venue’s social media platforms is also a key responsibility, amplifying the venue’s presence and engagement with potential clients and the broader community. The ideal candidate will exhibit professional communication skills, a results-driven mentality, and a passion for hospitality. With compensation including base salary, commissions, a percentage of private event revenues, and the opportunity to bartend if desired, this position offers a rewarding career path with uncapped earning potential, totaling a minimum of $60,000 annually plus benefits.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, marketing, or related field preferred
  • experience in hospitality or restaurant industry

  • availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
