Job Requirements

  • minimum 2 years catering sales experience or equivalent education and experience
  • valid driver’s license
  • reliable transportation
  • proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and property management software
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • ability to negotiate contracts
  • ability to manage customer relationships and expectations
  • strong presentation skills
  • ability to work outside sales calls approximately 50 percent of the time

Job Qualifications

  • minimum 2 years catering sales or 2 years in hotel catering, convention services, banquet, hotel sales or culinary arts
  • familiarity with brand specific property management systems such as Delphi
  • excellent communication, presentation, organization, time management, listening, and math skills
  • ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to analyze business potential and value
  • valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Duties

  • handle and follow up on inquiries for small meetings or events with or without guestrooms
  • negotiate contracts and banquet event orders (BEO)
  • communicate group details and changes to all hotel departments
  • present potential business at sales meetings to determine best customer mix
  • finalize and detail catering plans for groups and orchestrate functions on-site or off-site
  • prospect for new catering business using various methods including phone and outside sales calls
  • monitor blocked space to ensure groups meet contractual obligations
