The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, also known as Nagaajiwanaang (Where the water stops), is one of the six Bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and represents a proud sovereign Ojibwe nation. The Food and Beverage Department at Black Bear Casino Resort, part of the Fond du Lac Band enterprises, is currently seeking a dedicated Deli Cashier to join their team onsite. This full-time or part-time position reports directly to the Deli Manager and offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $13.82 to $15.55. The role includes a probationary period of 90 days for full-time employees and 120 days for part-time employees, under a non-exempt (hourly) status with a Class C Gaming Licensure. While no driver's license is required for this job, employees must adhere to strict standards of personal cleanliness and hygiene and consistently deliver excellent customer service.
The Deli Cashier acts as the frontline representative in the Food and Beverage division, greeting guests with warmth, providing detailed information about menu items, and processing transactions efficiently using a Point of Sale system. The individual will assist in restocking, rotating retail and food items, ensuring food safety by stamping dates and monitoring food temperatures throughout shifts. Maintaining a clean, organized workspace and properly sanitizing food preparation areas and equipment also fall under their responsibilities. Employees are expected to exhibit multitasking abilities, managing cashier duties while supporting the overall smooth operation of the deli section.
Furthermore, the role demands keen attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to respond promptly and courteously to guest needs, complaints, and requests. Compliance with mandatory department training, including Title 31 or SAR trainings, as well as confidentiality of financial and employee records, is essential. Employees will wear provided uniforms during scheduled hours and are required to maintain proper attendance and punctuality in line with policies. Flexibility and willingness to take on other management-assigned duties as needed are also part of the job. Job Requirements
- Prolonged walking and standing
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Proper hand washing and hygiene practices before and during work
- Ability to work inside in varying environmental conditions including smoking areas
- Must comply with Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies
- Full-time or part-time availability as required
- Adherence to attendance and punctuality policies
- Willingness to attend mandatory trainings and comply with confidentiality policies
- Flexibility to handle other duties assigned by management
Job Qualifications
- No driver’s license required
- Knowledge of personal cleanliness standards and ability to conform to good hygienic practices
- Skills in cash handling and ability to count money accurately
- Ability to operate Point of Sale system and process various payment methods
- Experience in a fast-paced cooking environment is preferred
- Maintain professional appearance and friendly, courteous demeanor
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities
- Attention to detail and accuracy

Job Duties
- Greet guests and provide details on items for sale
- Restock supplies, rotate retail and food items, and stamp the time and date on food in coolers
- Stay organized, keep a clean work area, and multitask while cashiering
- Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables
- Observe guests and respond to any additional requests
- Monitor hot and cold food temperatures through the shift
- Wear department uniform during scheduled work hours
- Attend all mandatory department and Title 31 or SAR trainings
- Ensure confidentiality of financial and employee/client records
- Promptly respond to requests, complaints, and problems
- Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to others
- Represent the Fond du Lac Band and department professionally in the community
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Fulfill additional responsibilities assigned by management as needed
