Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Complete competent person training within 90 days
- Ability to conduct regular safety inspections and enforce OSHA regulations
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Must pass mandatory drug testing prior to employment and random tests thereafter
- Physical ability to perform job functions including lifting and climbing
- Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment as required
- Availability for first shift, overtime, and weekend work
- Regular attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card
- Good communication skills and leadership ability
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish required
- Understanding of 'Stop Work Authority' and effective judgment on work conditions
- Experience assisting with OSHA compliance
- Ability to conduct safety inspections and training
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and safety regulations
- Ability to deliver clear and accurate safety reports
- Competent person training completion within 90 days
- Preferred OSHA 10 certification
Job Duties
- Provide support to the safety manager to ensure safety policies and company rules are enforced
- Ensure employees perform their duties with minimum risk of personal injury and damage to equipment
- Ensure employees understand and comply with all federal, state, local and company safety rules and regulations
- Ensure employees are knowledgeable and trained in emergency situations
- Complete competent person training within 90 days of hire
- Conduct 'stop work authority' to halt unsafe jobs
- Walk the yard to monitor safe work practices
- Assist supervisors and foremen to ensure compliance with OSHA rules
- Report and assist in the investigation of all incidents, accidents, and injuries
- Participate or assist in employee training programs on safety
- Disseminate company safety policies to employees and management
- Provide daily reports of yard safety activities
- Support confined space program including inspections and documentation
- Administer first aid for minor injuries
- Exhibit good judgment and take direction from supervisors
- Understand company quality, environmental and safety manuals and procedures
