Job Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting agency
  • four years of general experience in safety and accident prevention work
  • one year of experience with responsibility for an organized safety and accident prevention program
  • or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience

Job Qualifications

  • at least one year of responsibility for conducting an organized safety and accident prevention program
  • a satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and/or experience

Job Duties

  • Consults with superintendents and fire wardens regarding fire control and prevention methods
  • advises on and assists in planning periodic fire and evacuation drills
  • investigates all fires and accidents and prepares reports
  • assists in safety education and training programs
  • inspects fire emergency equipment and fire alarm systems
  • records and follows up on violations filed by municipal agencies
  • analyzes and maintains statistics related to fires and accidents
  • maintains liaison with city agencies and fire prevention associations
