Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and productively with others
  • Ability to manage other safety personnel on the project
  • Good working understanding of OSHA regulations related to mission critical projects
  • Experience ensuring compliance to National Electrical Code NFPA 70E
  • Experience in mission critical environments and industry standards
  • Knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and documentation
  • Good working knowledge of workers' compensation and claims management
  • Experience with 3rd party contractor management databases such as ISN and Avetta
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Bilingual Spanish and English a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work with little supervision
  • Board-certified safety credentials such as CSP, GSP, CIH, ASP, CHST with 3-5 years construction safety management experience or OSHA 500 Certification with 6 years full-time construction safety management experience
  • Current First Aid - CPR AED Certification
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, electrical engineering or a related degree preferred
  • Ability to temporarily relocate to project location
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Job Qualifications

  • Five or more years of successful safety management experience with mission critical projects
  • Board-certified safety credential from a nationally recognized organization such as CSP, GSP, CIH, ASP, CHST
  • Current OSHA 500 Certification
  • Certification in First Aid - CPR AED from a nationally recognized organization
  • Experience with National Electrical Code NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructures
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation including blueprints and electrical one-lines
  • Good working knowledge of workers' compensation and claims management
  • Experience with third-party contractor management databases such as ISN and Avetta
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative
  • Bilingual Spanish and English is a plus
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational safety and health, risk management, electrical engineering or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Interface closely with Mission Critical Campus General Superintendent and project Field Managers and lead the safety program across all construction activities
  • Serve as technical advisor to Safety Professionals, Field Supervision and Subcontractors
  • Monitor campus construction activities and advise management on compliance with applicable regulatory rules and laws
  • Assist with the company safety training curriculum and conduct training sessions
  • Assist project Energy Marshall to ensure overall campus compliance of the Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) program
  • Provide consistency and rigor in the LOTO program to meet or exceed company safety policy requirements
  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings
  • Review high-risk statements of work (SOWs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and methods of procedure (MOPs), ensuring all sources of energy are identified
  • Direct and assist in the investigation of serious accidents, property damage, and incidents with the public and develop preventive measures
  • Assist with claims management functions including workers' compensation and insurance claims
  • Maintain statistical data for accidents and prepare required accident reports
  • Conduct safety and health program evaluations and regular safety inspections of the project
  • Provide safety training and technical support for mission critical projects
  • Implement company drug and alcohol testing programs
  • Administer and coordinate medical treatment for injured workers
  • Interface with OSHA and assist during compliance inspections
  • Coordinate OSHA consultation visits, fines, and citation meetings
  • Participate in Corporate and project Safety Committees
