Job Requirements

  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a professional safety role
  • OSHA 500 certification required
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Experience writing safety plans and job hazard analyses
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English

  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking

  • Must be able to travel to field and office locations
  • Must be physically able to perform essential job functions including walking, climbing and lifting up to 25 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a professional safety role
  • Proven successful experience as a safety manager preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • OSHA 500 certification required
  • Experience writing Health And Safety Plans (HASP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
  • Deep understanding of occupational health and safety guidelines and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry safety practices and regulations
  • Ability to perform public speaking for safety training
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Training in ISO, Six Sigma or comparable quality control programs a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of project and financial software a plus

Job Duties

  • Manage company safety policies, procedures, and safety manual
  • Revise, update, and maintain safety manual including OSHA reviews
  • Develop and approve policies for specific work activities, tools, and equipment
  • Develop and approve letters of variance for site-specific issues
  • Attend joint safety committee meetings for policy development
  • Create training and rollout programs for new policies and procedures
  • Manage injury and incident reporting, investigation, and claim management
  • Approve and develop injury investigation reports
  • Track, report, and record injuries requiring medical treatment
  • Report major incidents per OSHA requirements
  • Track company labor hours and incident rates
  • Manage claims within insurance guidelines
  • Manage EMCOR ACTS system tracking and reporting
  • Manage return to work and modified duty claims
  • Develop and approve safety training programs
  • Manage safety orientation and training records
  • Source third-party training courses
  • Manage health exams and fit-testing documentation
  • Update training management systems
  • Develop and audit safety hazard assessments and documentation
  • Perform job walks and site inspections
  • Attend safety and project meetings
  • Develop best practices and protocols with clients, contractors, and unions
  • Assist in business continuity planning and risk assessments
  • Co-chair safety committee
  • Manage and issue confined space and high voltage safety equipment and training
  • Manage industrial hygiene programs
  • Coordinate Drivers Alert and GPS Insight monitoring systems
  • Administer and audit ISO 9000:2015 operations work instructions related to safety
  • Provide first-aid and medical transport
  • Assist in supply ordering and PPE standardization
  • Collaborate in problem-solving companywide safety issues
  • Other duties as assigned
