The Safety Manager plays a vital role within an aviation services company, responsible for overseeing safety operations and leading the airport base to deliver consistent, efficient, and safe services. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in safety management or related role
- Experience working in an airport or aviation environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, aviation management or related field preferred
- Proven experience in safety management within the aviation or transportation industry
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Knowledge of aviation ground operations and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop operational plans and manage manpower effectively
- Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Job Duties
- Develop and implement safety plan for base
- Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Have a complete understanding of all contract details by carrier and base to ensure revenue maximization
- Meet or exceed manpower targets at each base
- Hold station staff accountable for meeting safety, financial, and operational objectives
- Develop base-specific plans for approval by Regional Manager covering safety, manpower, training, and schedule changes
- Assess and develop leads for succession planning
- Develop relationships with key customer contacts within base
- Establish and communicate station goals to staff
- Maintain open relationships with frontline personnel
- Understand manpower methodology, planning and sked plans with Regional Manager and HR
- Assist in interviewing and selection of employees
- Coordinate training and re-certifications
- Oversee aircraft turnaround activities
- Ensure processes meet SLA standards and safety requirements
