Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • eight years of construction safety experience
  • supervisory experience
  • knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety laws
  • proficiency with MS Office
  • advanced safety or industrial hygiene certifications preferred
  • valid driver license
  • experience working with regulatory agencies
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to conduct safety training and inspections
  • physical ability to perform required duties

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field such as engineering, safety, health sciences, or risk management or equivalent work experience
  • construction health and safety technician (CHST) or above certification (ASP/CSP) from Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
  • OSHA 500 Certified Trainer
  • typically eight years of related construction safety experience
  • supervisory experience
  • technical and practical knowledge of construction safety laws including OSHA, Hazmat, crane safety, and excavation safety
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • experience in industrial safety, occupational safety and health, or industrial hygiene preferred
  • current HAZWOPER 40-hour training preferred
  • asbestos and lead training preferred
  • current OSHA 30-hour construction safety training preferred
  • possession of valid driver license

Job Duties

  • Conducts quarterly safety meetings and monthly operations safety meetings
  • participates in developing and administering safety incentives
  • confers with attorneys regarding liability cases
  • performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary
  • directs and participates in safety audits of operations to reduce occupation safety risk factors and ensure compliance with safety directives and regulations
  • implements and manages injury and illness prevention program and coordinates employee participation
  • conducts regular safety inspections of projects including facilities, worksites, equipment, practices, and safety devices to ensure compliance
  • reports safety findings to management and recommends changes
  • trains, motivates, counsels and monitors performance of Site Safety Managers and assigned staff
  • prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • serves as safety resource to division and assists in complying with safety standards
  • coordinates and delivers on-site safety training
  • monitors substance abuse programs at all jobsites
  • serves as an interface between owners, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and Webcor
  • manages problem prevention strategies
  • manages and builds team morale
  • coordinates substance abuse testing and medical clinics for new jobsites
  • facilitates return to work program
  • serves as liaison for worker's compensation reporting and claims management
  • facilitates mass safety meetings and weekly tailgate safety meetings
  • compiles materials for safety meetings, prepares agendas and records meeting minutes
