Job Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Dependable attendance and consistent work performance
- Ability to lift 20-50 pounds regularly
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods
- Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Previous supervisory experience
- Civil Engineering, Underground Construction, and Paving experience a plus
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 5-8 years of related safety work experience or master's degree with approximately 5 years experience
- Minimum 3 years construction risk management experience
- Previous experience managing a team of 5 or more members
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and CAL-OSHA regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with incident reporting and recordkeeping
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with HCSS software is desirable
Job Duties
- Oversees the company safety program
- Trains, educates, and provides resources and solutions to staff
- Designs safety features and procedures to mitigate risk strategically
- Keeps supervisory personnel informed on safety laws and regulations
- Oversees new hire orientation and Veriforce training
- Emphasizes employee engagement in continuous improvement
- Monitors and enforces compliance with OSHA and state safety standards
- Provides up-to-date OSHA/CAL-OSHA information to employees
- Answers safety and health questions from crews and management
- Enforces safety policies and evaluates current practices
- Ensures safety of field personnel and work sites
- Develops new protocols and standard operating procedures
- Builds cohesive teams and relationships with field personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
