Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in pari-mutuel horse racing as a licensed trainer or jockey
- Minimum 10 years experience in pari-mutuel horse racing as a licensed owner with recognized industry expertise
- Minimum 3 years experience as a licensed racing official, racing secretary, assistant racing secretary, or director of racing
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to analyze situations and implement solutions effectively
- Flexible and irregular schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Knowledge of Commission Rules of Racing
- Thorough understanding of HISA regulations in Oklahoma
- Ability to establish MQS and input racetrack surface data
- Prohibited from wagering on any horse race under HISA jurisdiction
- Prohibited from owning horses racing at HISA regulated racetracks
- Ability to work in a smoke-filled casino environment
- Ability to pass Title 31 training
- Ability to be accredited through the Racing Officials Accreditation Program
- Meet experience and continuing education requirements for accreditation
- Good standing with all racing jurisdictions
- Ability to pass background check and obtain license or permit as required
- Ability to complete pre-employment drug test with negative result
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience in pari-mutuel horse racing as a licensed trainer or jockey for 5 years
- Experience as a licensed owner in pari-mutuel horse racing for 10 years with recognized expertise
- Experience as a licensed racing official, racing secretary, assistant racing secretary or director of racing for 3 years
- Equivalent industry experience as deemed appropriate by the association
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to analyze, identify and implement solutions effectively
- Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Working knowledge of commission rules of racing
- Thorough understanding of HISA regulations for Oklahoma
- Ability to establish the Maintenance Quality System (MQS) and input racetrack surface data
- Prohibited from wagering or owning horses under HISA jurisdiction
- Ability to work in a smoke-filled casino environment
- Must be accredited or able to be accredited through the Racing Officials Accreditation Program
- Meet experience and continuing education requirements for accreditation
- In good standing with all racing jurisdictions
Job Duties
- Oversee equine safety, racetrack safety, risk management and injury prevention of horses and individuals
- Create a culture of safety for horses, riders, and Remington Park personnel
- Ensure that all activities and practices meet required safety standards
- Maintain and annually review standard operating procedures and protocols related to safety
- Coordinate and oversee emergency drills including equine injury, starting gate malfunction, and hazardous weather affecting the track
- Follow all HISA reporting deadlines
- Interact with HISA concerning Racetrack Safety Accreditation compliance
- Coordinate with Association Veterinarians to ensure compliance with veterinarian related rules
- Daily monitor activities and practices for compliance with company policies, OHRC/TXRC safety regulations, and HISA rules
- Operate as the association steward during thoroughbred meets to enforce HISA rules 2200
- Conduct hearings on all possible HISA 2200 rule infractions and submit rulings to HISA
- Oversee HISA Accreditation and compile documentation for the annual audit
- Conduct pre-meet racetrack safety inspections independently or with personnel
- Make recommendations to licensing bodies to ensure the integrity of racing and compliance with laws and regulations
- Assist persons with HISA registration
- Monitor outriders, jockeys, gate crew members, medical personnel, horsemen, and exercise riders
- Monitor safety equipment such as vests, whips and helmets
- Answer questions regarding rules and regulations
- Perform all other duties as assigned
