Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five or more years of related transportation industry experience
- One year of accident and injury free driving experience
- Strong preference for candidates with paratransit and transit experience
- Previous safety manager and training experience required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Reliable attendance record
- Experience in teaching or public speaking
- Basic computer proficiency
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in the transportation industry
- At least one year of accident and injury free driving experience
- Paratransit experience strongly preferred
- Experience in the transit industry preferred
- Previous safety manager experience required
- Demonstrated training experience required
- Familiarity with Trapeze software preferred
- Ability to work under fast-paced conditions
- Strong communication, decision-making, and leadership skills
- Consistent excellent attendance
- Experience with teaching, instructing, or public speaking
- Proficient computer skills
Job Duties
- Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current and meet division needs
- Serve as the expert in EPA, OSHA, and CDL compliance and regulations
- Ensure all new hires meet minimum qualifications including background and DMV checks
- Utilize safety technology tools to analyze trends and develop safety improvement plans
- Oversee corporate safety incentives and manage safety points
- Foster a consistent safety culture across operations, safety, and maintenance teams
- Lead safety training programs including classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction according to client and corporate specifications
- Review all vehicle, passenger, and employee accident reports to determine causes and preventability
- Provide expertise in safety hiring decisions for safety department exempt employees
- Maintain up-to-date training materials and inventory supplies for safety programs
