Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a safety or security related field
- Minimum 1 year of health, safety and/or environmental related experience
- Experience with OSHA regulations
- Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety, security, and/or personnel issues
- Frequent local travel between sites in the city of Denver is required
- Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, drive, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines
- Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Develop safety programs and procedures including development and maintenance of safety captain manuals, with expansion of these items into the residential and community-based teams
- Hold regular site-specific safety captain meetings and begin having these meetings with residential and community-based teams
- Conduct safety captain mini-drills (e.g. Revolution, panic buttons, overhead paging system, emergency door locks, emergency response checklists) and address deficiencies as needed, with expansion of these items into the residential and community-based teams, as appropriate
- Identify safety improvement opportunities, compliance concerns, and possible safety risks by conducting frequent audits
- Assist in identifying adverse safety trends and help develop plans to address them, collaborating with the appropriate Program Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents
- Assist Manager of Strategic Safety Initiatives and other organizational leaders in addressing union representatives concerns regarding safety, when requested
- Assist in managing, auditing, investigating, and responding to safety related Confidential Incident Reports (CIRs)
- Assist with facilitating and supporting annual drills including active threat, fire and severe weather drills
- Support Risk Management's efforts to ensure compliance with organizational safety program expectations and applicable federal and state laws
- Manage the video surveillance system, including (but not limited to) trouble shooting camera errors, reviewing incident footage, and supporting MHCD staff with use of the system
- Develop urban safety programs and initiate outreach to other local organizations in collaboration to support these programs
- Serve as liaison between MHCD and local police departments, and emergency response departments, as appropriate
- Serve as an active member of the MHCD's Emergency Response Team
- Assist in responding to contacts made to the Risk Management phone line and email address
- Complete administrative duties and special projects, such as participation in presentations, research, program development, and other related projects as requested by the manager
- Assist in maintaining an environment of well-being using the equity lens and trauma informed principle
- Other duties, as assigned
