Specifically, the Safety Coordinator role is based at the Williams-Sonoma Distribution Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi. This full-time, non-exempt position operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and holds a grade level of 13 within the company. The Safety Coordinator supports one or more distribution centers within the geographic region by implementing and maintaining safety programs that adhere to company policies and regulatory standards. This role is critical in fostering a safe work environment, managing safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), delivering training sessions, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The Safety Coordinator focuses on developing and improving safety SOPs and standardized work processes across facilities. They conduct safety audits, daily walk-through inspections, hazard identifications, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Leading or supporting thorough investigations of safety events, the coordinator identifies root causes, implements corrective measures, and records findings accurately using the internal safety management system.
Key responsibilities include owning select programs such as Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) compliance, emergency preparedness, chemical management, ergonomics, and safety committees, ensuring consistent execution and continuous improvements. The role also involves analyzing safety data and trends, performing risk assessments, and participating in Management of Change reviews to foresee and mitigate risks due to new equipment or processes. The Safety Coordinator works collaboratively with Operations, Human Resources, and Maintenance departments to promote sustainable safety improvements and coach associates and supervisors on safe work practices and hazard recognition. Additionally, leading safety committee meetings and assisting with compliance to OSHA regulations and other safety standards form an integral part of the job.
This position demands physical exertion including walking, bending, lifting, standing, and climbing, and requires the ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds with or without accommodation. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or has at least two years of experience in warehouse or manufacturing environments with defined safety responsibilities. They possess working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910) and root cause analysis, along with strong communication and coaching skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Job Duties
- Lead the development and rollout of safety SOPs and standardized work processes across assigned facilities
- deliver engaging safety training including new-hire orientation, PIT training, refresher courses, and targeted training
- conduct safety audits, daily walk-throughs, and hazard identification activities and ensure timely follow-up and verification of corrective actions
- lead or support safety event investigations ensuring accurate root cause identification, effective corrective actions, and complete documentation in the internal safety management system
- maintain required safety records, inspection logs, and compliance documentation
- own select safety programs such as PIT compliance, emergency preparedness, chemical management, ergonomics, or safety committee processes and ensure consistent execution
- analyze safety data and incident trends to identify emerging risks and recommend proactive actions to site leadership
- conduct risk assessments and participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews for new equipment, processes, or layout changes
- partner with Operations, HR, and Maintenance to drive corrective actions and sustainable safety improvements
- coach supervisors and associates on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and application of WSI safety policies
- lead site-level safety committee meetings and champion local safety initiatives
- assist with compliance requirements related to OSHA, fire protection, PIT operations, emergency preparedness, and other applicable regulations
