Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and DOT physical and maintain physical throughout employment
- Experience in transit/paratransit safety management
- Previous management experience in a union environment
- Knowledge of safety regulations including ADA, FTA and DOT
- Ability to work independently and objectively
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to delegate and supervise
- Knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office
- Regular attendance required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
- Minimum 5 years transit/paratransit safety management experience
- Previous management experience in a union environment
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations including ADA, FTA and DOT
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and provide supervision
- Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Regular attendance
- Ability to obtain future certifications as required
Job Duties
- Manage a consistent safety culture that incorporates various departments such as operations, safety and maintenance
- Oversee Corporate Safety Incentives and programs effectively, including assignment of Safety Points
- Implement and support company and client safety management system (SMS) and initiatives
- Manage and monitor FTA’s drug and alcohol DAMIS reporting requirements
- Monitor and support all location insurance claims activities to ensure effective communication and control claims costs
- Lead and support the local safety committee and SMS Ambassador group
- Oversee the locations worker compensation program to ensure compliance and reduce claims
- Deliver proper classroom, behind the wheel and mobility management training
- Promote employee self-responsibility to achieve all safety goals and training requirements
- Ensure all new hires meet minimum qualifications including background and DMV checks
- Ensure safety manuals, programs, policies and practices are current and updated
- Complete all related audits by company, client, internal staff, and regulatory agencies
- Review and respond to all vehicular, passenger, and employee accidents/incidents
- Provide functional expertise in safety regarding hiring safety employees
- Collaborate with local leadership to deliver safety meetings and plans
- Act as location drug program manager ensuring FTA/DOT compliance
