The Russell House Events Coordinator position is a full-time, professional role within USC's Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support, located at the Russell House University Union in Columbia. Working 37.5 hours per week on a standard schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with flexibility required, the coordinator will play a key role in managing and facilitating events that enrich the USC student experience. The position offers an anticipated salary range of $48,726 to $70,653 annually, commensurate with experience. This role is ideal for a high-energy self-starter who excels in a customer-service oriented environment and enjoys building relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external clients.

Responsibilities include coordinating the scheduling of events and activities in the Russell House University Union and other select campus venues, working closely with campus departments and external parties. The coordinator educates users on facility policies to ensure the proper use of resources and spaces. They also oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of student employees, interns, and graduate assistants. The role involves managing event budgets and providing oversight for the Information Desk to enhance communications with facility stakeholders. The successful candidate will be adept at multitasking, troubleshooting issues on the fly, and supporting an inclusive, dynamic campus environment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job related field
  • Two or more years of job related experience or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to meet department needs
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Effective verbal, written, and organizational communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy
  • High level of discretion
  • Willingness to supervise and mentor others

Job Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and experience
  • Experience working in a university setting with activities and event planning
  • Knowledge of event planning software
  • Understanding of student development theory
  • Verbal, written and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and concurrent requests with high accuracy
  • High degree of discretion
  • Pending graduates able to obtain degree by employment date will be considered

Job Duties

  • Serve as primary scheduler for events and activities which take place in University Union facilities
  • Plan and execute event planning functions with clients and campus partners
  • Ensure events follow facility policies and appropriate utilization of Russell House
  • Supervise the Event Reservation Specialist Team by reviewing, processing, and managing all event requests
  • Coordinate with internal teams to confirm space availability and secure necessary resources such as equipment and technical support
  • Plan and execute departmental events for students alongside campus stakeholders and partners
  • Develop associated budgets and manage expenditures and revenue streams
  • Partner and collaborate with key campus offices to support an inclusive Student Life environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
