The open position at US Foods focuses on route scheduling and sequencing, which is a critical role within the company’s transportation and logistics operations. The individual in this role will utilize sophisticated, computerized software programs to build and optimize delivery routes that efficiently match customer orders with assigned loads on trucks. This involves balancing loads based on size and weight to maximize cost-effectiveness without compromising the timing and quality of delivery. The role requires close collaboration with various internal teams including Sales, Warehouse, and Transportation, ensuring seamless communication and feasibility analysis for deliveries.

The job schedule is Sunday through Thursday, from 2 pm to 10:30 pm, offering a structured workweek with predictable hours. This position involves regular use of routing software systems like RoadNet and Mainframe. Responsibilities include generating daily reports on route changes, sequence adjustments, and new customer requests, highlighting the need for strong data management and analytical skills. Additionally, employees in this role receive overtime compensation, emphasizing the company’s recognition of the demands of this position.

Candidates are expected to have a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of relevant experience. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Utilizing specified software, route trucks by matching customer orders to appropriate loads assigned to trucks
  • Utilizing specified software, balance loads per trailer by size and weight of product and pallets to be loaded
  • Build cost effective routes while maintaining customer needs
  • Work closely with Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery feasibility
  • Prepare various reports on a daily basis, i.e. route changes request, sequence change requests, new customer request, etc.
  • Maintains routing software system parameters (RoadNet and Mainframe)
  • Communicate with internal teams and external customers to ensure delivery efficiency
