The Route Sales Relief Driver - Jumper role at Aramark centers on building and maintaining business partnerships with customers by thoroughly understanding and meeting their needs. This role is vital in driving sales growth, maintaining customer satisfaction, and ensuring accurate, timely delivery of products. The Relief Driver acts with an account ownership mentality, consistently seeking opportunities to improve services and product offerings while capitalizing on sales opportunities and promoting account retention.
The position demands a customer-centric approach, engaging in ongoing conversations with key decision-makers to gather customer information and enhance offerings accordingly. Responsibilities include meeting sales expectations by promoting route growth, securing service agreement renewals, and increasing customer retention, thereby enhancing the profitability of the market center. The Route Sales Relief Driver will identify new business opportunities, including selling new products to existing customers and acquiring new accounts. Customer relationships are paramount, and the driver must exhibit respectful, effective communication and respond promptly to all customer issues and opportunities.
Operationally, this position requires safe and courteous operation of company vehicles while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, performing daily preventive maintenance, and ensuring merchandise is properly stocked, rotated, and delivered in the correct quantities. The driver is also responsible for managing inventory levels at customer locations, safeguarding company and customer assets, and maintaining accurate daily accounting of monies and products.
Strong communication skills are essential, including active listening and effective communication under challenging conditions. The Route Sales Relief Driver will regularly collaborate with the general manager, route sales manager, customer service manager, and customer service associates to address customer concerns and report competitor activities. Flexibility and adaptability are also critical, as job duties may evolve to meet business needs. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record for at least 5 years
- Ability to obtain DOT certification
- 1-2 years of experience in a public contact role
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
- Proficiency in sales or willingness to be trained
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle maintenance
- Client interaction and time management skills
Job Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in a position requiring heavy public contact
- High school diploma/G.E.D required
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain DOT certification to operate DOT regulated vehicles
- Must have clean driving record for 5 years
- Ability to communicate at high efficiency and effectiveness with clients and operations staff
- Ability to respond quickly to changing demands
- Proficient or can be trained to sell products to customers
- Must have good interpersonal skills and customer service skills
- Must possess an acceptable driving record in accordance with the CMV policy and a valid driver’s license
- Client interaction, communication, organization/time management are critical to the success of this role
- The ability to work efficiently and independently is important as well
Job Duties
- Meet sales expectations and promote overall route growth, service agreement renewal, and customer retention to enhance the profitability of the market center
- Identify opportunities to solicit new business and increase business revenue through selling new items to current customers and obtaining new accounts
- Establish and maintain effective and respectful relationships with customers and provide outstanding customer service by having an account ownership mentality
- Focus on account retention and seek opportunities to improve the account by being the first/primary responder to all customer issues and opportunities
- Ensure products are loaded/unloaded in a safe manner, proper items and quantities of merchandise are delivered on their regularly scheduled day, merchandise is stocked, products are rotated, and all equipment is maintained and cleaned
- Operate Company vehicles safely and courteously while following the rules of the road
- Verify the daily preventative maintenance of the vehicle and keep the interior of the truck clean, organized, and safely maintained
- Comply with all DOT requirements
- Responsible for and respectful of both customer and Aramark assets
- Install and maintain appropriate inventory levels at customer locations and ensure proper quality and working condition
- Responsible for a complete and accurate accounting of all monies and products daily in accordance with established guidelines
- Practice attentive and active listening and communicate effectively under adverse conditions through the internal/external communication process
- Communicate with the GM, RSM, CSM, and CSA’s regarding customers and reports on pending problems, or on evidence of competitors in customer locations
