The Route Relief Sales Representative role within Community Coffee's Sales Execution department in the Coffee Service Division plays a crucial part in maintaining uninterrupted customer service and satisfaction. Reporting to the Sales Manager or Sales Supervisor, this on-site position involves daily travel between the company location and various customer establishments. The primary responsibility of the Route Relief Sales Representative is to cover assigned routes, handling delivery of products, equipment, and supplies in the absence of the regular route sales representative. This role ensures that inventory is accurately maintained on the route truck, products are fresh and displayed properly, and coffee brewing equipment is serviced at customer locations. Additionally, this position includes soliciting additional product sales, collecting customer payments, managing daily deposits, and recording accurate sales and inventory information. The representative may also participate in trade shows and special events to promote Community Coffee products and is responsible for routine vehicle maintenance and cleanliness. This role demands a high level of customer centricity, integrity, and effective communication skills, complemented by competencies in adaptability, accountability, and resourcefulness. Because of its physical demands, candidates must be capable of frequent lifting, standing, walking, and maneuvering loads, with specific vision abilities and adherence to safety standards required. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • passing score on aptitude test if no diploma
  • one year of customer service or sales experience
  • route sales and cold calling experience preferred
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • valid driver’s license
  • acceptable driving record
  • DOT medical certification
  • successful completion of pre-employment physical
  • COVID vaccination may be required
  • internal experience with Community Coffee may apply with approval

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of customer service or sales experience
  • route sales and cold calling experience in a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) environment preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • acceptable driving record
  • DOT medical certification
  • successful completion of pre-employment physical
  • ability to frequently lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
  • strong communication and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to plan route relief schedules in advance
  • deliver products, equipment, and supplies to existing customers during assigned relief periods
  • solicit additional product purchases from current customers to drive sales
  • collect customer payments and manage daily route bank deposits
  • load and maintain accurate truck inventory for each customer visit
  • maintain product freshness and appropriate shelf presentation
  • ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent service and support
  • maintain and service coffee brewing equipment at customer locations
  • record and update accurate sales, inventory, and delivery information
  • participate in trade shows and special events to promote company products
  • perform routine vehicle maintenance and keep the truck clean
  • may be asked to perform additional duties as necessary
