Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group, is a premier broadline food distributor that plays a pivotal role in America’s food supply chain. Known for its commitment to quality, reliability, and customer service, Performance Foodservice serves a diverse clientele including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on developing strong partnerships with customers through a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who provide valuable advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. This holistic approach not only ensures the delivery of high-quality food products but also helps customers optimize their business operations to achieve sustained growth and success.
At Performance Foodservice, the work environment fosters inclusivity, respect, and recognition. Employees benefit from competitive pay and a comprehensive package of benefits starting from day one. These include health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off among other perks. The company emphasizes safety and inclusivity, creating a rewarding environment where every team member’s contributions are valued, and opportunities for professional growth are abundant.
The Driver Helper Non Formula position plays an essential role within this dynamic organization. Delivery drivers and their helpers are the face of the company, responsible for ensuring food products are delivered promptly, safely, and in excellent condition. As a Driver Helper, you will actively assist the driver in all aspects of product delivery on both intrastate and interstate routes, using various types of delivery vehicles including tractor trailers, tandem trailers, and straight trucks. The role requires adherence to Department of Transportation regulations as well as effective communication and professional interactions with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
This position entails working typically four to five days per week, totaling 36 or more hours across varying shifts that may range from 10 to 12 hours and primarily occur between 1 to 5 AM. The Driver Helper supports the driver not only by assisting with navigating delivery routes but also by actively loading, unloading, and placing products according to customer specifications. Completing delivery documentation accurately and promptly, as well as performing other related duties assigned, is vital to maintain operational efficiency and excellent customer service.
This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout shifts. Drivers Helpers must be capable of lifting and handling products ranging from 10 to 35 pounds regularly and up to 60 to 90 pounds depending on product and location. Additionally, working in various temperature-controlled environments such as coolers and freezers is a regular aspect of the job.
Joining Performance Foodservice means becoming part of a reputable company dedicated not only to food distribution excellence but also to creating an equal and supportive workplace for all employees, regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics. The company is committed to maintaining equal employment opportunities and abiding by all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
In summary, the Driver Helper Non Formula position at Performance Foodservice offers a unique opportunity to contribute to America’s essential food distribution system, gain professional experience, and grow within a respected organization that values its employees and their well-being.
