Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is one of the leading suppliers in the United States of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with a wide range of hardgoods and related products. The company also ranks as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products and process chemicals in the U.S. Boasting a workforce of 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a vibrant culture centered around safety, customer success, innovation, and sustainability. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide—a global leader with approximately 66,500 employees and presence in 60 countries—Airgas leverages international expertise to benefit over four million customers and patients. This connection offers employees a platform to grow and make impactful contributions in their careers while working in a supportive, equitable environment that honors diversity and inclusion.
Located in Atlanta, GA, this particular opportunity is for a Route Driver at the South Division retail shop. The role is critical as these drivers are considered the "face of Airgas," responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to a variety of local and regional business customers. The position involves using company-provided straight or box trucks to transport these cylinders, which requires considerable attention to safety and detail. Beyond just delivering, drivers are also responsible for loading, unloading, and collecting empty or rejected cylinders, playing a key part in the company's operational flow.
This is a full-time position that offers a comprehensive benefits package starting after just 30 days of employment. The benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. Support for parents is robust, including up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits. Other benefits include 401(k) with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time, emphasizing work/life balance and stability. As part of Airgas, drivers have the opportunity to advance within a professional team that values internal mobility and respects diverse perspectives.
The role demands adherence to stringent safety standards such as SAFECOR and governmental regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. Drivers must maintain accurate delivery records, obtain customer signatures, and ensure all compliance requirements are met consistently. Additionally, this position may provide warehouse support and dock assistance when necessary. Candidates with prior experience in the gas, welding, and safety supply industries are preferred but not mandatory. Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, solid math capabilities, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential to thriving in this role.
Airgas is proud to be an equal opportunity employer that embraces diversity and is committed to building an inclusive workplace. The company supports employees from all backgrounds and ensures reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. This reinforces Airgas’s mission to create a dynamic work environment where all employees can flourish, contribute their unique talents, and build rewarding careers.
