This position is for a Route Delivery Driver based in Tampa, FL, within the East Regional Retail sector. The delivery driver serves as a vital link as the "face of Airgas," responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers. Employees in this role operate company-provided straight or box trucks to manage the transportation of these gases. The role demands rigorous safety compliance, adherence to government regulations, and interaction with customers, requiring both professionalism and dependability on a daily basis.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license
  • Valid medical examiner’s card
  • Hazmat and airbrake certifications
  • One year of professional driving experience within last five years or diploma from accredited driving school with minimum one year driving experience
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Physical ability to lift 25 to 75 pounds routinely and up to greater than 125 pounds with aid of material handling equipment
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours and frequently bend

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Safely load deliver and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest obtaining customer signatures for receipt
  • Collect empty rejected or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT EPA FMCSA FDA and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
