The Guest Services Supervisor position at The Blackstone Hotel offers an exceptional opportunity to oversee daily front office and housekeeping operations in one of Chicago's most prestigious hotels. The role involves managing guest service personnel to ensure a courteous, efficient, and welcoming environment that maximizes guest satisfaction and financial performance. Responsibilities include supervising check-in and check-out procedures, cash handling, managing guest inquiries, coordinating with valet and transportation services, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and hotel policies.

The supervisor will also be responsible for supporting the housekeeping department by ensuring cleanliness standards, inventory control, staff scheduling, training, and enforcing policies that protect both guests and hotel assets. Additionally, the role involves handling guest complaints professionally and implementing emergency procedures to safeguard guests and staff. This leadership role requires collaboration with various departments, including the Director of Rooms and Executive Housekeeper, and participation in hotel management programs and safety committees.

This position demands excellent organizational skills, a strong understanding of hotel front office and housekeeping operations, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of guest service. Job Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years' experience as front desk supervisor or four years front office experience
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written
  • Strong knowledge of hotel front office and housekeeping processes
  • Ability to operate cash registers and handle cash accurately
  • Capacity to multitask and manage stressful situations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for 90% of the shift and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Reliable and professional demeanor
  • Willingness to adhere to hotel policies and procedures
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Respond in a professional and courteous manner to arriving, departing, and in-house guests
  • Supervise daily operations of Guest Services and housekeeping personnel
  • Greet and complete check-in and check-out procedures using manual and computerized methods
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate hotel records
  • Answer inquiries, accept reservations, and utilize suggestive selling techniques
  • Coordinate group arrivals, departures, and guest transportation
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory control
  • Implement emergency training and procedures
  • Produce weekly schedules and manage staffing
  • Conduct performance evaluations and assist in hiring decisions
  • Maintain communication between Front Office, Housekeeping, and management
  • Monitor housekeeping staff productivity and enforce health and safety standards
  • Follow-up on guest complaints to ensure satisfaction
  • Participate in hotel safety and management programs
  • Conduct departmental meetings and training
  • Handle guest mail and messages
  • Monitor front desk associates' cash banks
  • Administer departmental incentive programs
  • Execute sales strategies and conduct special projects as assigned
