This role is for a Food Production Cook based at Rhode Island Hospital, part of Brown University Health. The position operates under the general supervision of the Manager and Production Coordinator and involves preparing, seasoning, and cooking food for hospital patients and the cafeteria following established recipes and procedures. Job Requirements
- Associate degree in culinary arts preferred
- minimum one year of culinary experience required
- three years of extensive production experience in quantity food preparation preferred
- manager certified in food safety license preferred
- ability to read, write, and speak English
- ability to perform mathematical calculations
- physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate to heavy food supplies
- proficiency in safe operation of various kitchen equipment
- ability to read and follow recipes
- willingness to learn and develop skills
- work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
- no driving required
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Review menu entrees to ensure timely preparation
- prepare meats, sauces, gravies, and other items according to recipes
- assist in cooking menu entrees, salads, and cold plates
- measure, weigh, and combine ingredients for large-scale food preparation
- inspect and taste food for proper seasoning and quality
- operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, and slicers
- estimate food requirements and control serving portions to minimize waste and control costs
- maintain cleanliness and sanitary condition of equipment, utensils, and work areas
- ensure proper storage and dating of foodstuffs
- perform other duties as assigned
