As a Room Service Associate at Banner Health, you will become an integral member of a dedicated culinary team that strives to deliver premier patient services. This role involves interacting directly with patients to provide menus, take meal requests, and collaborate closely with Dietetic Technicians and Dietitians to ensure dietary needs are met accurately. Your responsibilities will include assisting in meal preparation by assembling trays and portioning foods according to specified dietary orders, ensuring that patients receive meals that comply with their nutritional requirements. The position offers both full-time and part-time evening shift opportunities, with flexible hours designed to accommodate a range of schedules. Job Requirements

  • Reading, writing, and mathematical skills required
  • One to two years of related experience in nutrition services preferred
  • Food handlers card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members (not required in Tucson and Colorado)
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills required
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines for cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to learn and work with business computer software and point of sale systems
  • Must pass food handling certification tests as required
  • Demonstrated customer service skills required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Skills and knowledge of nutrition services typically gained through one to two years of related experience
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Friendly customer service attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
  • Experience or knowledge of food handling regulations
  • Demonstrated effective customer service skills
  • Preferred bilingual skills in some assignments
  • Additional related education or experience preferred
  • Understanding of nutrition services, common modified diets, and portion measures preferred

Job Duties

  • Visit patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon dietary orders
  • Enter or record all daily patient meal selections and preferences
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment with modified diets and menu knowledge when relating to patients
  • Request Diet Technician or Dietitian assistance when needed
  • Provide patient meal service including setting up tray work stations and assembling patient trays according to correct quantities
  • Deliver and serve meals while making independent judgments about special requests and snacks
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints effectively
  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing agency requirements
  • Interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff while following work routines and ensuring dietary standards
  • Resolve minor problems with patient menus and trays
