Job Requirements
- Deschutes County Food Handlers Card or the ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform job safely
- Ability to stand and walk for 75% or more of the time
- Ability to lift/carry/push or pull 1-10 pounds continually and 11-25 pounds frequently
- Ability to climb stairs and occasionally a ladder or step-stool
- Ability to reach overhead and lift/carry/push or pull 25-50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to use clear and audible speaking voice and hear normal speech level
- Availability to work part-time, variable shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to comply with all organizational policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Previous food service or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (equivalent education and experience considered)
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and menu items
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous customer service and/or food service experience preferred
- Ability to deliver high-level customer service
- Understanding of food safety standards including HACCP
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Commitment to ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Job Duties
- Participates in the assembly of patient trays to meet patient’s request and diet order
- Delivers trays to patient rooms in a timely manner and verifies patient tray is correct utilizing the Double Patient Identifier process
- Notifies appropriate nursing staff if patient has safety precautions for aspiration or other precautionary safety needs
- Follows all precautions regarding isolation precautions in delivery of food to patients under isolation or other precautionary care
- Conducts all delivery activities with the highest level of customer service
- Ensures tray and food are in proper order when delivering to the patient and validates with patient food is what patient ordered and expected
- Promptly follows up if patient is not satisfied with food or items are missing
- Maintains knowledge of therapeutic diets and menu items to ensure patient’s diet restrictions are adhered to
- Acts as the last point of contact for quality and safety checks in reviewing patient food order and dietary restrictions
- Stocks food supply areas on assigned patient floors as directed
- Cleans and sanitizes surfaces and equipment for room service
- Stores and handles all food properly following HACCP guidelines
- Maintains clean work areas including work surfaces, floors, walls and equipment following St. Charles Health System and Oregon Food Sanitation standards
- Provides support to other areas of food services as directed
- Delivers customer service to both internal and external customers that promotes goodwill, timeliness, efficiency and accuracy
- Supports vision, mission, and values of the organization
- Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles with enthusiasm and continuous improvement
- Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests
- Conducts all activities with high standards of professionalism and confidentiality
- Complies with laws, regulations, policies and procedures
- May perform additional duties of similar complexity as assigned.
