Job Requirements

  • preferably six months experience in cleaning or janitorial related field
  • at least a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • background screening for previous criminal history
  • ability to stand, sit, and walk for more than four hours
  • ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • participate in all assigned training
  • adherence to hotel uniform and grooming standards
  • sign in and out daily on sign-in sheet
  • proper management of housekeeping keys
  • no smoking except in designated areas
  • ability to engage guests positively and resolve issues promptly
  • meet performance standards for cleaning and guest service

Job Qualifications

  • preferably six months experience in cleaning or janitorial related field
  • at least a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • ability to communicate effectively orally at an average level
  • ability to stand, sit, and walk for more than four hours
  • ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • participate in all assigned training
  • successful background screening
  • achieve at least 80 percent score on hotel reservations system test after training
  • demonstrate emotional competence
  • embrace diversity and multicultural environment

Job Duties

  • clean hotel rooms and suites including bathrooms and kitchens
  • demonstrate good customer service skills
  • complete tasks in a timely manner
  • lift and move heavy items sometimes upstairs
  • interact with guests in a professional and helpful manner
  • operate vacuums and use different types of cleaning solutions
  • work effectively as part of a team
  • contribute to laundry duties including washing and drying linens and towels
  • clean all other assigned areas of the hotel
  • remove trash and dirty linens from rooms
  • wear hotel uniform and adhere to grooming standards
  • sign in and out on sign-in sheet daily
  • manage housekeeping keys with proper security
  • stock cleaning supplies and maintain neat carts
  • perform thorough cleaning following hotel standards including making beds, dusting, sweeping, cleaning TV screens, windows, mirrors, and telephones
  • handle lost and found items according to procedures
  • sweep hallways in front of assigned rooms daily
  • refrain from smoking except in designated areas
  • participate in scheduled heavy-duty cleaning
  • maintain emotional composure and positive attitude under pressure
  • engage guests conversationally and recognize their needs
  • resolve guest issues promptly
  • anticipate guests’ needs
  • represent hotel professionally at all times
