Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • four to six months housekeeping experience or training preferred but not required
  • ability to understand, read, write and speak basic English and communicate with team members and guests
  • ability to work flexible shifts
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
  • ability to comply in standardized situations with occasional or no variables
  • physically able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, climb, balance, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to use close, distance and color vision
  • able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations

Job Duties

  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens
  • cleans multiple guest rooms daily including changing linens, making beds, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, polishing furniture and fixtures
  • replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies
  • cleans corridors and stairways
  • sweeps and scrubs bathroom floors
  • cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies
  • dusts furniture, washes walls and woodwork, washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • empties wastebaskets and ashtrays
  • transports trash and waste to disposal area
  • replenishes bathroom supplies and replaces light bulbs
  • scrubs bathroom vanity, toilet, mirrors, walls and bathroom fan
  • completes quality check on television, telephone, AC, and smoke detectors
  • removes items left behind and follows proper hotel procedure for lost and found
  • reports maintenance problems to maintenance department
  • uses supplies and equipment carefully
  • wears proper uniform at all times
  • achieves 90% or higher on room inspections
  • gives acknowledgement and pleasant greeting to guests
  • has thorough knowledge of in-house products and local area information to assist customers
  • displays proper organizational skills when stocking cart and timely stocking after completing rooms
  • helps keep commercial area clean and neat
  • responds timely to customer needs for housekeeping supplies
  • uses guest name when entering occupied room
  • checks vacant rooms daily to ensure correct status
  • maintains supply room clean and organized
  • displays team attitude and assists co-workers when needed
