Job Description

The Room Attendant position at Cottage Inn by the Sea is an essential role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of guest rooms, hallways, and other designated areas within the hotel. This role requires a dedicated individual who can uphold the company’s standards for cleanliness and ensure that rooms are prepared and maintained to maximize guest satisfaction. The attendant will work under the guidance of the Executive Housekeeper and General Manager, following established guidelines to ensure timely and thorough cleaning.

This position emphasizes a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times, providing personalized service while interacting with both guests and fellow team members. The Room Attendant must perform a variety of cleaning tasks including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and wiping down surfaces. There is also a strong focus on security—especially in handling master room keys and guest belongings—to maintain safety and trust.

Beyond routine cleaning duties, this role includes reporting maintenance concerns promptly to ensure the hotel environment remains in excellent condition. The Room Attendant may also be asked to assist with laundry duties and contribute to teamwork by supporting other departments when needed. This position offers an opportunity to become an integral part of the Cottage Inn team and contribute directly to the guest experience.

Employment is offered on an hourly basis, with a competitive pay range from $16.90 to $17.50 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to follow instructions and company standards
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and punctual

Job Duties

  • Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests
  • Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members
  • Clean guest rooms to Company standards including but not limited to: making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms completely, wiping down walls, etc
  • Clean rooms within the minutes-per-room guideline established by the Executive Housekeeper and General Manager
  • Follow Company policy for room amenities
  • Turn in all items left in guestroom to manager immediately
  • Maintain complete security of master room key and return the key at the end of shift without leaving the property with it
  • Report any maintenance items that need immediate attention
  • Assist with laundry as needed
  • Report any missing/found articles or damage to the Executive Housekeeper
  • Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel
