Job Description
Sonesta International Hotels is a prominent and rapidly growing hotel company, ranked as the 8th largest in the United States. With a diverse portfolio that includes full-service and focused hotels situated in major cities, Sonesta offers a unique blend of owned, managed, and franchised properties across more than 1,000 locations in eight countries. The company is deeply committed to the human side of hospitality, prioritizing service with passion, loyalty with purpose, and creating memorable experiences that connect with guests on a personal level. Sonesta's brand philosophy, known as Together We Thrive, emphasizes delivering quality, value, and exceptional hospitality to every guest and every stay.
The Room Attendant (RA) role at Sonesta International Hotels is a vital part of the Housekeeping Management Team. This position focuses on maintaining cleanliness and order in guest rooms, public spaces, and sometimes commercial laundry areas, all while adhering to Sonesta's strict brand standards regarding timing, product quality, and presentation. The RA ensures that guests experience total satisfaction by creating a clean, welcoming environment, which is a cornerstone of the hotel's commitment to hospitality excellence. The role requires attention to detail and a proactive approach to responding to guest requests, complaints, and special needs.
Responsibilities for the Room Attendant include cleaning and servicing rooms by making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, and maintaining kitchen areas when applicable. The RA also takes charge of laundry duties when assigned, which includes operating washers and dryers, monitoring supplies, folding linens, and inspecting items for damage. Collaboration with supervisory staff is essential for reporting any room that cannot be serviced, needed repairs, or unsafe conditions to ensure the continuous quality and safety of the facility.
This role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving around the property, as well as the ability to lift or carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The use of commercial cleaning chemicals is also part of the daily duties. The position involves working various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to guarantee that all guests receive outstanding service regardless of the time of day.
Sonesta offers a competitive pay range, reflecting the importance of this role in upholding the company's service standards and guest satisfaction. Additionally, the company provides comprehensive benefits to support the health, well-being, and financial security of its employees. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a Health Savings Account with company match, a 401(k) retirement plan also with company match, paid vacation and sick days, and discounts for stays at Sonesta hotels. Educational assistance, paid parental leave, company-paid life insurance, and short-term and long-term disability insurance further contribute to the attractive compensation package. Employee perks and various insurance plans covering hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accidents are also available.
Sonesta International Hotels is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion. The company provides equal consideration to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristics. Applicants are encouraged to complete the full application process, including submitting a resume, to be considered for the Room Attendant position. This comprehensive approach ensures that the best candidates are selected to join Sonesta's team and contribute to the company’s ongoing success in the hospitality industry.
